Father's Day Tribute to my Amazing Man.

My father and my mother divorced when I was a young child. My husband never met his father. I'm not saying this to gain sympathy nor do we need pity, we were both raised by strong black women-mothers and grandmothers. I was lucky to have an amazing grandfather and an awesome brother and uncle to look towards for a sense of understanding of what a father was suppose to be like. The men in my husbands family on the other hand were far from role models. Jesse and I both come from a line of divorcees or unmarried couples. Marriage was and is something of an attempted venture but never a success in our families.

I say all of this so that you will understand that what we strive to create for our family and with our marriage we have not seen patterned before us. We have learned and continue to learn and work through marriage and bi-parenthood (a term I think I just made up to mean having two parents) on our own. So to us, when we do something right its a success not just for us but for our family.

Our goal is and will always be to model Christ and His relationship with the church in our marriage. We strive daily to live up to God's standards for a Christian marriage.

I believe in generational curses and I also believe in the power to change your future.  Through God all things are possible and the impossible is obtainable through faith.

I see Jesse place God first in his life. I see him work hard day in and day out for our family and for our goals. I see him lead our family through sacrifice and deep love. His patience and perseverance gets us through rough times. His caring and calm spirit carry me through days when stress, anxiety and depression seek to get the best of me.

He gives me his best and his best will always be good enough, because I know that even though he lacks perfection- as we all do, he is perfect for me.

I pray and Thank God daily for the gift that is my husband and for knowing me so deeply that he blessed me with exactly what I needed in a man.
